Had removed inner baffler and opened the outlet. But now she is stock with baffle in newer stock 505 muffler.

Nope never advanced the timing on any of this series.

Never compared before and after the modded muffler on the 505 either. So cant give any % of gains or not.

With stock muffler on it, it ran and cut with 385 and 064. Back to back cuts with 24 or 28 buried

Never muffler modded the 415's or 445's as they run great stock too.

Had a nice day yesterday chasing down a couple of parts saws. Wife went along for a 50F sunny Jan day. Pretty dang unusual here IMO. Stopped at at a decent restaurant and bought some stuff at cheese barn. Oh I do love the smoked cheeses.

early poulan 25 manual oiling only from what I understand and had a stacked muffler.

I'm not going to fix or keep it myself. I figured a collector might want it being early one with stacked muffler manual oiling only and green case it came in.

I figure I will squirt some mix down carb to check that it indeed does start

stack muffler and busted tank side

Then all I was after was the 3450 parts saw. Was hoping a T3 60cc but no luck

I wished they had made those cases where they wouldn't have come apart so easily, hinges sliding apart from each other is what I'm talking about.

This case is dirty but hinges and clasp are perfect. If someone has a tank and wants a early 25 I will sell or trade it all.

How can you tell the difference, without auto and different kill switch?

The hinges and case clamps are fine on mine but if I don't watch it, the hinges slide apart on it, minor pita. Case is in great shape and carrying handle is good. First time I saw it, the handle reminded me of the old pull straps they used to have on car and truck doors in the 70's to early 80's.

I'm not good with this series but owned a bunch and t read alot on them on my site and collector site. The early 25 like this was manual oiler only. Has stack muffler. Built in 71 and 72. Later ones they had automatic oiling on the decal when they had both.
This is the first early 25 I have had.
The rest are 25D S25 S25D S25DA S25CVA etc. Heck I may have got all those messed up so many different ways it seems.

Like I said I just picked it up while I was getting the 3450, because I knew a collector type might want it. If not I will part it out.

Anyone ever done any real comparison, time wise, between the 4000 and the 3700? Just curious cause I know the 3700 I have is a beastly saw. But the 4000 is too obviously. Just curious if anyone has done a head to head with everything else being equal (bar and chain)?

I mean they sound the same and it feels like they cut the same but surely there has to be some difference. I know from 3400 to 3700 there's a noticeable exhaust note difference and power feel. At least to me on my machines.

Its probably one one of those things you wont notice until you have a long bar on them both and see which one is gutting it out better.
