That was, to me, the last of the great Poulans.

I'm at an estate auction right now and they have a Poulan 2500 Farmhand that appears to be in good shape. It has compression and has original bar. I'm thinking it would make a good gift or back up saw. What say you on this one? I've had really good luck with my 2150 and 2050 which were of the same era.

Went for $17.00. I had just purchased a portable generator so my small gas engine addiction was satisfied for the time.

Did you get the saw, that was cheap.

No. Maybe I should have, but I wanted to save money to bid on the generator. In any event these saws are pretty common.

Added another '87 3000 to the mix. Tore it down yesterday. Flipped the diffuser, gasket delete, cleaned up the internals a tad, Motoseal + jug overnight. Stout, little rippers. Canadian pro models. They just keep showing up around me.

I had to replace my tank some years back ago, falling tree limb got it on the handle and broke it. What I come across is that there were rubber mounts or spring mount handles. Didn't know they had spring mount tanks til then.

I suspect they changed the front mount to a spring as the rubber ones were prone to breaking.

Nice Cory. They are rare as 5200's around me

Thanks Tim. I find I am using the lighter saws a bit more each year. These really fit the bill for performance in the 12" and under. Easy on fuel and just enough grunt. I've a few in the mix now. Seems to help the supply when the local Squeeler gets folks to buy MS271's instead of (at least trying) fixing them.

Still on the lookout for a clean (or any for that matter) big Counter Vibe. They are not to be found in this area.

Fleabay or pawn shops. I have seen alot of nice older American saws in pawn shops, if not Stihl/Husky they are usually priced to move.

Looking to replace fuel lines in a 3400 what is the best line and diameter to use. Is there a black echo or stihl line that works?

I have always had good success with Tygon for those. Use the same line for both fuel and vent. Vent hole is slightly larger and friction fits line/ plastic nipple/ duckbill valve. Any of 0.117" x 0.211", 1/8" x 3/16" or 3/32" x 3/16" should work.

I've only used the 3mm x 5mm black Echo style line for impulse applications on the follow-up series. But, diameters are comparable with the Tygon.
