Hey on that leaking McCulloch why don't you try the old kerosene trick .Dump the tank and fill it about half full of kerosene and let it sit for a day.Fire it up and flush out the system .Due to the fact that saw had sat for a while it might have waxed up the check valves etc .Might work, might not .

I always forget about the cleaning power of kerosene and diesel fuels. Thanks Al.

I think people forget sometimes that old school stuff like kerosene, permatex #2 ,Indian Head gasket shellac etc .still work .These days the talk is Yamaha bond,Dirko and other fancy names seems to be the rage .Whatever works I guess .BTW WD-40 will break up oil sludge too ,old school but not that old .

I still use Indian head and #2. #2 works well for the airbox seal in the 10 series.

Picked this up on CL. Well actually, my buddy grabbed it for me cause I had to work. Should be getting it today or tomorrow and I'm pretty excited about it. I'm hoping it's a 797 with the 101 motor. I know nothing about these saws, this is my first.

But damn, aren't they ever cool. And best of all, American made when we're weren't waiting to be great "again".

I'm not certain exactly what might be the difference between the 797 ,CP 125 and the 101 except the kart engine has a head .I think the internals take pretty much the same parts .
I've got the IPL's on all of them plus the interchange charts on micro fiche .I'm certainly by no means an expert on them though .

What makes you think it has a 101 on it

I do not see a DSP lever so doubt its not a 795 or 797, it may be a 1-70 something, 740, or 790. I have not seen a 101 with a painted block. The 101 has a removable head which should be easy enough to spot. Yours has the older dished in starter cover and old style fuel cap making me think its an 80cc or 87cc saw.

Due to the fact it's an 87 cc and if it has a head unless I'm mistaken either that engine or a Super 44A were morped into the Mc 10 kart engine which was quite successful .Fact they might even be the same engine .

I once paid 75 bucks for a non running 10 10 just cause it had a nice 24" roller nose bar on it.

I know where that would fit right in, I'll pm you my address

This is the part where I tell you guys that there are probably eight more of the 24 in, four or five 28", and two 28" sprocket nosed bars. All NOS. I was also given a slightly used Windsor Speed Tip in CJL/ K095 18" 3/8 050 64dl.

Can some of you more learned individuals enlighten me, as to the advantage of a roller nose? Obviously the bar I was given is for a 10 series McCulloch, or a mid mount Echo and Poulan. But what and/ or where would the need arise to use a roller vs. sprocket nose?

The obvious reason is that you can change pitch without changing the bar and I do believe they roll smoother and a little faster, they take the beauty of the sprocket tip but no meshing of tooth to sprocket required
