Well Grandpa Pete got his only remaining wish granted. He refused to leave his farm. The mere mention of a assisted living facility would enrage him. He left the farm for the last time Tuesday around noon and left us last night around 7:30. He bought his farm in 1947. He was 95.

Sorry for your loss Aaron. I sure understand his thought process. I've been on this piece of property since 1986, and I intend to die here.

I keep my 2640 plugged up on a timer, and inside the barn. So far.....so good. Always fires off in a matter of seconds.

I keep the (air cooled) Deutz 6265 in the shed and on a battery tender. 3 cycles on the glow plugs and it will start down to about -10 or so. It's too cold for me to want to use it when it's below that.

The Allis 7000 likes 45 or warmer and a couple rounds on the glow plugs to start. The IH 1066 needs candy to start up to 50 degrees. Oh well.

My Zetor has no preheating and will start everytime. But takes some cranking.

Our agco allis 5650 has an air cooled deutz and will fire right up no matter the temp. The pre heat in it is broken too.

The allis 7020 will just stay in bed if its below 45.

Bless you., he looks like a hard working man. My grandpa also dyed here on the farm, as did my daddy, and I am well on my way also. Been here since the 1880,s ( when grandpa was born ) Daddy was born in 1917 and passed in 2006, would be 102 years old today. I was born when he was 40 years old, and my daughter was born when I was 40 years old. She is 22 now.
