101_0284.JPG And a 986 pulling a 10 row John Deere 18" bean planter, with loaded duals. Thought you might like this. As it is all gone now :(

edit , Note that the 986 has 2, 425 gallon fertilizer tanks mounted on the frame in front of the duals, one on each side. And they are John Deere 71 units on the planter. ( no-till)

Not bad at all, in pic #1 you just swap out sprockets on top & bottom with sprockets in pic #2, mix & match accordingly to get your preferred rate. Pic #3 shows the whole set up, if you want a rate of less than 161k you swap out the big sprocket on the back to a 15 tooth & you can plant lower rates. Book lists all rates for each sprocket combo.

I went and looked at a used 6 row Kinze today for sale. Seems like good planters. This is one that is very similar to a JD 7000. If we were in west TN, they would buy us a new one, but since we don’t have duck, we do what we can. I put a top drive system in our 7000, and we have very little problems now.

Spent half the morning repairing a spindle that broke off our 300 gallon crop sprayer. I’ve put in for a replacement for three years now, but she finally broke down on us today. I was able to cut off the bottom plate, build a new plate with new spindle, and weld it back on. I lined the new spindle up with a piece of flat bat to the other and laid three passes of 7018 to fuse the 3/8 plate to the 3/8 wall tube. No pics because we were trying to beat the rain. I had to use a spindle I had planned for another project. It got us back to spraying our corn.

That's a bunch! How heavy are you rolling em?

Just a good average tight 4x5. We have had an unusually wet and cool spring. Managed to get fertilizer down in April in between rain drops. We are usaually done with the first cutting by now but just started haying Sunday.

Free flowers, if anyone wants seeds to give to their wife/girlfriend for their flower garden. Very hardy, grow anywhere in height from ground level to 6’-7’, some single stem some multiple stemmed. Short ground huggers stay green all winter. Nice pretty purple flowers that turn white, fluffy & cottony where they die. Some are even 2-4-D resistant.
