Update..... carb kits and a fuel line in the back one. They both run good!! Back one feels like a little less compression but looks like it’s been run harder/longer. I think it’s an 1984 if I’m reading it right. Not sure what the better shaped one is....
Couple of inserts on the front left cover holes on both an drilled out a muffler opening screw that was broke off and replaced them. Bad kill switch on older one replaced.
I think there ready to be test drove in some wood. Little clean up if they pass the wood test.

Picked up this 036 Steel (AKA) Shihl for $5.00 out of a pile of junk saws a while back while looking for my Hybrid 2156/2159 donor saws.
Had low compression, pulled muffler cylinder & piston to inspect & where in nice condition except for a very small scuff line on intake side.
Looked like the beginning signs of being strait gassed.
Drained & replaced with fresh Mix.
Put some honing oil in the cylinder to give back some compression. Pulled to till the ripcord snapped.
Replaced cord & began pulling till it started.
(Seemed like a 100 times)
Held full throttle.
With a little tuning and 4 tanks run thru her now it's a strong runner & earning its Keep.
