Im sure it’s a nice saw but style still leans towards the look of a China saw. Hopefully the production plastics match better with the flip caps and still not a fan of the triangle rewind ect.

Yes I know what you mean. This felt overall better built than other Echos that I’ve fondled. But I never liked the stop switch they use

HP was 5.5 or 5.7 can’t remember. But Jan said they could have built it 6HP but longevity would have suffered.

what ever that means :D i've ported some echo's for professional use for a good friend (501, 620, 680, 8002) with squish cut's and all the standard magic, they are now over 6 years old and still running. Maybe these yamabiko saw's are not as "hot" out of the box like a husky or a stihl but these saw's are durable! The cylinder (plating, casting) and pistons are top notch in my opinion.

Hi All

A couple of weeks ago I was lucky to meet Jan at the European Logging Championship in Belgium.
He was kind enough to let me take a few pics of his comp saw, the new 70cc Echo, along with answering just about all my questions.
I’ll try to remember as much as I can.

The production saw will have ‘flip-up’ style fuel and oil caps (bit like the husky ones)

Movement limiter a bit like the 572

Muffler has a small blanking plate covering 2 more bolts

transfer caps

He wouldn’t let me photograph under the hood due to some patents. It has a manual carb, a pleated air filter (similar to 572) with rubber sealing surface to the elbow. The top cover has a channel formed to take air off the flywheel similar to air injection. This then enters the carb box on an offset to create a cyclone type effect, which apparently is very effective at ejecting larger chips.

The saw felt nice to handle, well built, slim, similar in a lot of ways to the 572. Speaking to Jan he said it has a smaller bore and more stroke and felt nice and torquey to use. (Sorry, don’t know the exact cc, bore or stroke)
Any idea's on a release date?

Looks like they bought up all the left over toggles from the saws everyone else made in the 70’s kinda an unfinished look on a new saw.

I think that’s it. It’s not as ‘highly strung’ and therefore more durable. I’m sure given some work they could be made to run good [emoji16]

Yup.

Like stranter said, several 572 looking things there. Probably a decent saw. But the 572 has been so good that it will be tough for this saw to get market attention. Got to give them credit for doing another 70cc saw though. Not an easy market to crack.

I've noticed that too, they have very high quality looking plating. They appear to use minimal honing depth and leave little to no machine marks on the piston as if they expect a perfect fit through break in.

I just don't like how the plating stops or widens at the top of the cylinder. Sometimes it really limits how far the compression can be increased.
