That would probably work depending on how transparent it is.

You could powder the metals lime green and experiment mixing dye, they have a navy blue and a lighter shade of blue dye available, I assume for blue jeans. Maybe look at a color wheel and see what mixes to make purple.

Purple saw ftw.!!!

If you wanna send it to me that's fine, just to let you know if it's faded it will probably be a more matte black than glossy. But that can be cool too. I did a 372 cover that way just to test it out turned out good in my opinion.

I'll send you all the plastics, they are very faded.
Lets take this to PM's

Apparently red and blue make purple. As always I would mix a small batch and keep track of how much dye of each color is used. Then take a scrap peice of an old junky cover or something and see how it turns out. Heck try lime green I'm sure all it is is green and yellow. It may surprise you it may take.

May be a dumb questions but what if you soaked your plastics in bleach first, then tried to dye a lighter color?

Here's what a faded old plastic looks like after dye. The bleach will not remove the color so I doubt there would be any difference.

Sun light fades the plastics over time. My thought is this, what about high intensity UV lights? I wonder if the plastics would become brittle just like real old plastics.

I know it's not really realistic but maybe someone has a tanning bed they could crank up and toss a couple plastic in....lol

I've got a few spare plastics, so I may try the purple just to see how it turns out.
