When I was working for H&W in 2005, one of our operators on a job above Yoncalla
had two broken motor mounts on the hydraulic motor for the bar and chain. He went
through $3k worth of bars before they figured out what the problem was.
When did you stop cutting for them?

That 2005 job was my last job with them - I was subbing with a guy out of Glendale.

I worked for them off and on 2001-05. Then I partnered up with a guy out of Tri-City and got on with Alpine.

We worked for them until early 2007.

Copy. They’ve been a great company to cut for. Always kept us busy.

I can’t find any sort of markings or words anywhere on this thing.

It might be one of the early MSA hats. Is the band in the suspension plastic?

I had good luck with them. My last partner ran shovel for them off and on for about seven years. I notice they're running a lot of feller-bunchers now.

Sounds like something my job would do, they'd spend a dollar to save a penny.
You trying out for the Stihl calendar?

The band is plastic, and somebody fixed it up with some duct tape.
They have 2 bunchers right now, but no full-time operator. Several guys are sharing buncher duties. I believe there is still 12 of us hand cutters at the moment for them.

Might be a good opportunity if they had the dangle head on them for a guy looking to get out of so much physical labor or a semi retired faller.

H&W tried one of the company cutters, but he decided it wasn’t for him. The rest of us are contractors. But it would be a good idea...cut your own oversized. Brush yourself up, lol.

Some of the best guys in the machines are also cutters they won’t push the machine as much to destruction and they can plan a site out better.

That's what my brother did - he was cutting for Wally Plikat but now he's on a buncher, I think either for Van Norman or Schuyler.
