How many sticks are you guys landing down a day? How many guys per side?

At the moment we are doing approximately 30-60 trees, with a 40 foot rule. So no pieces longer than 40 feet or so. And we’ve been taking 3 long logs on a lot of them. Broke up ground, jacking, etc. Straight-fall job, we are doing 200 plus. Lots of variables as I’m sure you know.
@HYPERSAWS and I are a set, and there are 4 other cutters on this job. Typically, it’s just the two of us though.

You run a harvester, mostly thinning?

Yeah, been running a JD 1270G the last year it’s been interesting to learn after spending a decent share of time in a JD 653E track harvester with a fixed processor head.
This is from a job last year

I’d be in heaven in that kind of wood, do you guys do much thinning anymore?

We’ve had thinning going for the past six years I have worked for this particular logger. Kinda goes in spurts as far as me cutting on them, depending on location, etc. But they run up to 9 or so yarders, so there is a lot of stuff going on. All the thinning seems to be multi-year contracts, so we do a little every year. There is a Forest Service thinning being cut on for this logger right now, but we chose the coast clearcut instead.

Black lives matter?? Never heard of a BLM thinning.
LMAO, that’s some funny chit. Bureau of Land Management, Near as I can tell It’s just another gubermental agency adding to the taxpayer burden that think they wield the power God. As far as I can tell it’s mainly out west managing guberment owned land, which is a ridiculous thought in & of its self: The Guberment responsibly managing anything. I am sure some of these fellas out west will have a better explanation of what the BLM does.
