More progress on two fronts today! If I did not have appts every darn evening this week, this thing would be done already!

1) I did my first ever grinding on a cylinder, and got rid of that annoying lump (small mtn range) on the intake port. My work is not pretty, but I was also able to restore the bevel, and it is better than it was, so I'm happy (see pics of problem, wish I know how to save the pic blown up so you can see it better).

2) I checked the squish w/o the base gasket and it is .020, so we are good to go!

Really looking forward to getting this thing running and putting into some wood, but I gotta take care of business first! I was so glad the squish is good!

With the other changes I previously noted to the cylinder, I think this thing may be a real runner!

More cylinder comments:

Measuring from the squish band, the Exhaust and upper transfers are lower (by about the same amount).

The intake is about 1/16 wider and the Exhaust about 1/32 wider.

The Intake opening is also lower.

Lower transfers are about the same size.

That is all I got!

Hope someone responds to my idea about playing with the intake port.
Cross is lower or oem?

Mike, you need to get closer to what you are taking the photograph of. Get the camera closer to the target to get a close up picture. I think you will get better pictures that way.

FYI, (Permatex 518) this information is not on the tube or the instructions that come with it.

Also note, the difference in the last 2 #s (after the 518) simply refer to the package size. I had previously asked what the different #s meant, and did not get a response.

So basically, on Aluminum, you have about 75% strength after 2 hours.

What are you trying to do mike?

Gasket delete?

Brake cleaner on both metal surfaces. ..then thin even layer of 518 on metal surfaces. ...then bolt down. :)

IT'S ALIVE, IT'S ALIVE!!!!

Still no B&C, but it starts nicely and I adjusted the idle. After letting it run for a bit, and giving it a few mid range runs, I opened it up and it 4 strokes nicely (that is intentional, I want it a bit rich to start).

It yanked the cord out of my hand on the 6th pull. Had to adjust the idle after it started, but I got it, and it seems to have great throttle response. Also, no smoke at all, right from the start. I'm anxious to get this thing in some wood.

Weather permitting, maybe tomorrow. Hey, I even go rained on this morning, and it was a very windy day afterwards, but I like to work on the saw outside.

Just so glad she is running, really looking forward to trying her out!

JUDGEMENT DAY!!!

The rain finally stopped, and I got to resume my testing.

Best as I can tell, this P&C is running about 12% faster than my stock P&C, and it does fell like you can lean on it harder. Keep in mind, I thought my 066 was a pretty good runner for a stock saw.

IMO, this kit would make sense for anyone with a burned piston, or anyone that wants a little performance boost from their stock 066/660, especially if your stock saw is not a real strong runner.

This video is after one tank of break in, and a resharpened chain.
