I made the other thread about my $80 purchase and the tear down. Now its finally on to reassemblly.

The case has came fairly clean, still need to do a little toothbrush work.

The tank came a lot cleaner than I thought it would too.

Where it was ran with the muffler loose, it melted the top cover, and caused the Air Guide Shroud to warp. It also boogered the threads up a little. Should I run a bolt on them and see if they clean up, or should I run a tap through it ? Also wondered if it would be better to tap them a size larger?

My new parts came in, I already have the new oem top cover and a new oem muffler. I had ordered a new piston kit, new fuel solenoid (updated), new carb kit, handle moulding, stop buffer, 7 & 8 rims, new seals, HD2 filter, fuel filter, and the double bump spikes.

I was thinking of advancing the timing a little. Anyone have experience with that, or know how much to take off the molded in key ?

I'm planning to keep it 325, but havent decided which size or brand bar to try on it. I've always used Stihl bars, but would Tsumura be a good choice?

I prefer .325 on my 261cm.

I have a 16" Cannon on a 026, a couple of Tsumura standard weight 20" bars on a 460 and a Dolmar 6100. On my 261 (18"), my 441cm (24"), my 461R (24"), and my other 026 (16"), I have Sugihara bars.

I like them all equally well but I really like the price of the Tsumura bars. I can buy 2 of the Light-n-tough Tsumuras for the price of 1 Cannon or Sugihara. The lightweight Tsumuras are obviously more expensive. I have been unable to locate a Tsumura 16" .325 in .063 though, hence the Sugis and Cannon on my small saws. The .325 .063 is what all the dealers in my AO stock...

I have a 16", .325"/.063" that I repainted with some Light Ford Gray, it's still got a lot of life left. But I want something nice for it too.

Do you think your 18 is the right fit, or would it run a 20?I was thinking about advancing the timing, and opening the muffler up some and run the 8 pin rim.

My 241 has a 16", so i was thinking of going 18" on this. Those Light&Tough Tsumuras is what I was thinking on.

By the way, the color match wasnt TOO bad.

Must have missed this one when you posted it.

My 261 has a muffler mod. As such, it screams with a 16" - I have to really lean on it to load it. With the 18", it seems to load easier with no noticeable loss of power. I like them both.

If I remember your signature from AS correctly, you have a stable of larger saws to run longer bars? I would try your 16" for a bit and see what you think...

I prefer the Tsumura bars but can't find one in 16" (or 18") x .325" x .063 gauge. I'm not sure if they even make one. Hence the 18" Sugi and 16" Cannon.

If you find a Tsumura in .063 x .325, let me know as I will order a couple. All my .325 loops are .063 and I don't want to add another gauge to the chain box.

Thank you as well.

The 261 lives

Outstanding man. Thanks!!
The 18” Tsumura .325 x .063 is 207SR2 one is on its way to me now will be here Friday hopefully.

No problem, was searching for a couple of bars myself recently and downloaded the catalog and saved it to my phone. Might want to talk to Nate or contact archerplus on eBay to see about getting them in on the next order. Don’t know what either can do but worth a try
