My eyebrow raised when you said the J-Red piston had a shorter skirt! Sounds like that piston could play a significant part in building a strong 48mm 365! I would assume the J-Red piston is lighter too, which could also play well. How nice is instant +6 deg intake with zero grinding
Oh man here we go again lol.

Well, I plan to get my long overdue 242 off the ground Sunday. I am at my in-laws 90 miles from home for Christmas otherwise I would be getting to it tomorrow.

Next project in line for the bench is an open port 55 I'm planning to do with my 13 year old son if I can keep him focused for more than 4 seconds.

My sights are set on getting myself a 385xp builder for the next project. Got bit by that bug HARD! LOL!

I think you should build an ass-kickin' 372 with your set of cases you have on hand..... When the time comes...(almost started arm-twisting again there!) :D

I also mocked up this jonsered 630 piston. Windowed, single ring and 48 mm. It was a shorter skirt. Piston pin to crown was exact, the good side is it would be more intake duration with just a piston swap. It was like 6 degrees more. Again it was several months ago. If you would like to mock this piston up, let me know.

Joey
I’ve found these in meteor for under 40$. Would these be a direct fit or would something need to be modified to work. With the duration change it would make for a stronger saw right?? Thinking of running the Tecomec p/c kit to test it, then swap piston to a Jonsered 630 piston hot rod the *s-word out of it to see how well it runs.

Like I said, I'm not the expert, but I do know that often a small change can make a big difference, but a big change often results in a flop.

I would check the port timing before doing a change like that, and discuss it with some of the more knowledgeable people who have experience with that model.

I have a video of me milling with a Asian 660 that opened the intake at 84. The saw ran strong, but you can watch the video and see the fuel tank going down! I've heard that when you get over 80, some saws really start eating the fuel.

I used Google. Printed my first one from the internet. Glued it to a piece of hardboard. Ran a bolt through an old retired drill chuck and a couple nuts to hold the degree wheel on20170202_173100.jpg 20170202_173012.jpg 20170202_172959_001.jpg

I printed one, then glued it to Oak Tag (cut from a folder), then I just cut an X in the middle (which will automatically center it). I fold the bottom flush with the table to keep it from turning, and have my pointer rotate on the shaft.

Seems to work well, but you must keep your eye even with the shaft to get accurate readings.

Sorry, got a new computer and have not figured out how to transfer my pics yet, I will fire up the old one and post it.

It’s a shame that the techomic kits are done, used one on an 036 and other than the ports being a little rough and needing a polish it ran nice. Sold the saw to a friend, letting him know it was an aftermarket top end of course and an exparament. It’s been cutting firewood for 2 1/2 years now and he isn’t the easiest on equipment.

That’s good to know because I reckon I’m gonna use the one I just got to build up this 365. And test it out

Well I received the 365 Tecomec p/c kit this afternoon. First thoughts/impressions are kinda mixed. Casting looks pretty good to me. Ports could use some cleaning and smoothing. Piston doesn’t look to bad. Ring pen looks like on of those pressure fit one with the split down the side of it(can’t remember what they are actually called). Ring looks good. Only thing that I don’t like is the squish band.
