what are you thinking Shaun? Like a 026, 028S or like the wiseco 372 pistons?

Can you move the ring ends too?

I like the 026 idea fwiw.

I'll make just the pop-up domed ( or at least a really shallow bevel) so it doesn't mess with the flow across the piston.

@Gentleman if we relocate the ring pins will they be able to copy that as well?

They'll copy whatever we give them.

So we didn't move the ring pins but unsure if Shaun wanted to do that or not? I'll ask tomorrow AM. We have the first 039/390 piston made from a Cross piston. It will fit a OEM or Cross cylinder but not the cheaper Chinese kit. We had issues with the cheaper kits "D-shaped" combustion chamber and the pistons height vs squish. I think it would be like 0.012-0.014 squish and not enough room for the full round pop up. Plus it had a stepped squish band.

The Cross cylinder needs to tighten their squish band clearance by 0.010-0.012 even with the pop up piston. I think the Cross piston stock with the OEM jug was 0.030-0.031. The Cross cylinder and piston had 0.040-0.042.

The pop up is 0.035 so that's pretty considerable. I'll confirm all these numbers with my notes soon and get pics posted. Or maybe start a new thread? Need to cut and paste all this information for the 290/390 to a different thread....???

More tomorrow/soon. [emoji16]

I suppose they would also copy a non-EPA approved carburetor for an 039. It would actually be less work than the EPA carb. - For demonstration or racing purposes only (says so right on the box).
epa can stick it where the sun don't shine.

Forgot to post a link to those Tecomec 242 p&c kits on ebay: (it look to be the real deal)
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Tecomec-Cyl...260790?hash=item58ec944036:g:70IAAOSwImRYfR5X

We pay 30-35$ for one Meteor piston who isnt really a 242 piston, its more a modificated 42 piston. Price for one OEM piston is around 90-100$ if we can get them ;) cheapest OEM kit I ever have seen was ruffly 135€ ie 150$, I should know since I was the buyer :D:D
If Tecomec quality is just as good as Meteor, 50$ for a complete kit is a bargain.

Was pumped to get Italian made Tecomec

Tecomec pistons are clearly labeled made in CHINA!?!?
Maybe they are made IN China BY Italians? Would still be 'Italian made'?

I generally like Tecomec products, and have seen things like sharpening tools, spinners and breakers, etc. change from 'Made in Italy' to 'Made in China'. Side-by-side I side I could see some minor cosmetic differences, but hard to judge quality.

epa can stick it where the sun don't shine.
Sun don't shine inside my cylinders (just sayin').

Im not afraid if Mahle/KS/Tecomec/Meteor end up in China, China can make quality, all that is needed is inspectors.
There is a lot of quality products made in Asia, Intel used to have a CPU factory in Malaysia, top notch quality, when we used to build computers it was always a Malay CPU we craved after.
One of Nikons top 3 prime lens for DSLR is made in China nowadays, that lense has got some awesome reviews, still its made in China.

Tecomec has been imported by Tilton, until recently. I hope to see more of their products available here in the US.

Their new, combined spinner / breaker looks interesting, and they also have a line of grinder wheels that allow users to put on a smoother/finer finish, or to cut faster/coarser without burning.

Was a problem with the cylinder I assume?

I didn't want to chance it. Too many fins broken off.

I did contact the member you suggested. We have a tentative deal.

Tecomec kit is in the ball park he was going to charge me.

I still may get that broken one repaired and use it for trade fodder.

Send it to me. I'll get it fixed and back to you for shipping. Just need a donor cylinder for fins. I had a friend at work weld this one up not long ago. He doesn't mind doing it and we can knock it out on a lunch break.

Thanks for the link Tor, I just may have to try one, have a couple 42 specials that could use freshening up.
Maybe I should buy two, try one stock, port the other...
