I know most of us here buy lots of stuff from HLS and we thank them for sponsoring this site for us... but...

We probably need to correct the website to reflect the product. Was pumped to get Italian made Tecomec pistons for $5ea on Cyber Monday. Same as advertised and seen below.

Tecomec pistons are clearly labeled made in CHINA!?!?

Piston does look top notch so price and quality I can't complain at all but wanted others to know what they are getting.

That's too bad. I suppose the same goes for the cranks?? I was looking forward to trying some of these.

Yeah, I have the same 028 Super piston, and yes was a bit let down when I saw that as well. Like ya say though, it does look good, so... Bad part is, where does it end? :(

It has been edited out now. A better job should be done next time as it is (currently) still showing dealer prices in the "you may also like" area. Those are not as much of a discount though...

I ordered on the same deal and also received made in China pistons. I ordered a couple of the cranks as well. They showed up in boxes marked Precision Tooling which is an Italy based company but there are no marks of any kind stating country of origin on the boxes.

Just got mine today and was thinking the same exact thing. Looks like a quality piece but not Italian made as advertised.

I got a number of Tecomic items, a 361 cyl kit, 361 crank, misc pistons, o26, 365, all at least look to be pretty good quality.
Not one of them show a country of origin anywhere on the packaging...

I apologize for that. I didn't even look at that box. We just bought a closeout of Tecomec parts because they have quit making aftermarket parts. Received it the week of Thanksgiving. I hurried to get it online for Black Friday and Cyber Monday. I looked at some of the cranks and they have the "Made in Italy" printed on them.
I'm gonna check the other stuff in the morning. I never believe country of origin anymore. Not after what I've seen in China.

The Chinese factories are willingly happy to print 'made in wherever' on their production runs. They simply have no regard for copyright, intellectual property or country of manufacture at all. They are quite open about their disregard on the subject......but we all like their cheap cost of production and turn a blind eye too it.

I'm very interested in the cranks because others have shown poor quality in the past.

Thanks! I only posted as to alert others that all Tecomec stuff might not be Italian. I think we all badge a certain level of quality with Italian made AM products...

Looking at that 028 piston, I wonder if anyone would ever produce some domed pistons for other models. You know, HIGH COMPRESSION pistons. It would be like going back to the early days with bikes where all sorts of accessories were offered.

I'd love to get a domed piston for my Stihl 029/390 conversion. If someone had to rebuild a model like a 039-390, I'd bet that the HIGH COMPRESSION piston would be the first choice.

I've always thought somebody would come out with a domed piston aftermarket maybe clearance issues not all cylinders the same etc. Next 290 i will see if my friend will weld me a pop up and i will grind it to fit.

I've been thinking of doing something like that. Piston are relatively inexpensive to copy. 029 and 039 would be the first I would make. Is the combustion chamber the same on all of the 029 and 039's?
We need someone to make a prototype.
