Never loaded rifel or handgun cartridges. My gun nut brother does them for me. And i load all the shotgun ammo. I use 3 powders, green dot red dot and hurco (dont remember the number). Guys probably laugh at the old style outdated powder im using (may not even be made anymore). The rounds my brother loads are very nice. He must be doing something right as they always group well never damaged a action. Knowing him he is probably using some crazy expensive boutique powder. I know he has out 22.250s, .220 swift, .243s just flying. He even loaded me some 110 grain boat tails for my 25-06 and 30-06 that are silly fast and surprisingly accurate. At the same ive made some very nice shooting skeet/target loads. Some violent duck turkey and goose loads as well as buck shot and slugs that will reach out and get em.
Oh and @RI Chevy did you even run the 395 before you traded it away on a little bitty stihl tophandle? I sure hope you stuck it in a big ol log with a long bar just to feel what everyone talks about them for.

Thanks for the tip Mike. I’ve read that RL22 was actually made for short fat cartridges but I’ve yet to try it, didn’t know if it was just hype.

Target battle ship sounds awesome, I’ll be on the look out for that one.

It worked extremely well with 190 bergers and the 208s. Almost 2800 FPS or a touch over with the 208s

Dang that is a hell of a push. Ever try it with 168’s? I know our rifles are nowhere near similar and you’re shooting long range but my M70 WSM loves that weight.

I shoot 168s in my 06 and 300 Win Mag. I load each with IMR 4350. The 300 would give me 5/8" groups at 100 yds, the 06 sub 1/2", so that powder should work well for you in that cartridge. Since my beloved Win 120 primers are NLA, I'm using Win Mag primers in both.

Carburetors and wires don't mix well, never have on anything ever.
Some day though when fuel injection takes over...

Yep. Remember all the smog garbage added to carbed auto engines back in the day? By comparison it is ridiculously easy to make an EFI engine pass emissions. I am very interested to see EFI on OPE. It shouldnt have too much trouble given that the current technology is circa 1980.

Maybe they go to sealed bearings and direct fuel injection!!! That would be interesting!

I get bored shooting stuff that close unless it’s reactive targets like 4” steel or start getting into offhand or improvised props
I’m sure 100yds is coma inducing for you after shooting 1,000. I’d like to shoot further but we don’t have any ranges with more than 200yds. Also I just don’t have time for another hobby and distance shooting takes lots of learning plus better epuipemnt than I have. Maybe I’ll give it a whirl someday if I can find a farmer willing to loan me a field for range sessions.

I hunt in the woods, 60-80 yards is the most common shooting distance, only one deer taken at over 100 yds (about 150). So I focus on bullet performance and aim for under 1 moa. I hunt with Barns X bullets even though they are a little less accurate than the Nosler Solid Base.

Used to do Woodchucks at longer range with the 220 Swift, but with all the Coyotes, Woodchucks are hard to find.

Well, I can see one problem right off the bat. You can't just have direct injection (the cleanest) or your bearings are going to cease!

They will do what Ford had to do and add a second injector upstream.

Nothing wrong with coyotes.....if they’re dead.

Yep, sounds like central KY. Although, my new place has some open fields so there is the possibility of a 200 yard shot when you catch them crossing through. Hopefully I can try it with my new 6.5 Creedmoor this season!
