Wow Stumpy. You really like this photo.

Best Stihl ammunition...ever!

Surprising how many of you fellas have that photo saved.

Can't let the best thing ever for Husqvarna just get squandered away.

Oh yeah, the screw thing is the only ammo ya have. :ciappa:

No it's not. In a quick get away us Stihl guys can save our powerhead while you cuss that goofy looking outboard clutch that has your chain stuck.

I'm by no means captain material. But I'll be a hell of a spokesman to back up the Capt.!

I believe it was IMR 4064, but I will try and find a box, or my old notes, and check. Most of my work was with 4064 or 4350.

I just found two boxes with my workup loads, and I don't know if I ever settled on a load (many still unfired, and divorce happened, etc). However, I was loading 110 gr Hornady round nose and IMR 4064, I tried 31 - 36 grains, 1 grain at a time. I was also using the NLA Win 120 primer.

IIRC, I think they all shot well.

4064 is an excellent, underrated powder that is always in stock. It's my go-to for jacketed bullets in .30-30, planning to try it in .257 Roberts and 6.5 Creedmoor soon.

I believe one of my friends snagged a 94 Big Bore in 444, said it was a real limited run. Like you say, if I came across one not priced to the moon I would get it, they are nice. Also, wasn't the big bore a 356 (along with the 307). Was disappointed those nice cartridges did not survive … similarly the 35 Winchester chambered in the 95. Always wanted to find one of them also.

I remember they made the 94 in .444 during the last years of New Haven production, however that one was not a Big Bore. Did they have a .444 in the Big Bore line at some point?

My .257 Roberts is a Howa 1500 rebarrelled by E.R. Shaw. The Howa/Vanguard is one of my favorite actions, it's quite simple and rugged. I would have gotten a Vanguard series 2 in 6.5 Creedmoor if I hadn't gotten the Remingotn 700 for $100.00 less.
