I have had an 036 I been using every once in awhile, had to shut it off by choking it. Decided im gonna trade it and another saw for a dirtbike. Wanted to figure out why it doesnt ground out(?)/shutoff. Took the starter cover off and there was tape around the piece that plugs into the coil, and it was unplugged. Took tape off, plugged it in, put the cover back on and started it a few times and shut it off a few times.
Now im just wondering why someone would do that, to prevent a problem they were experiencing or ?, im not sure why. So I just wanted to ask the experts why someone might do that. Thanks.

Also i hope this is the right "sub forum".

I would imagine they had a problem with it vibrating off, especially if they were ripping with the grain, I have had many things fall off that way. Of course electrical tape would be a poor choice there because of the heat, it would end up coming undone unless a zip tie was used over the tape, to hold it down tight,
