Today a friend of mine offered me a 272xp that is in pretty good shape for a very fair price.

How do they fare with a port job? I've been told they are strong and pretty tough. School me!

Subbed. I've been watching one for sale. Kind of afraid it may have some Chinese parts though. It ain't local so I can't check it out up close.

They’re real good ones. I have one. Easy enough I can work on it. I have read they aren’t as responsive to porting as some other models. It’s my favorite saw for the most part. Dead reliable. Not sure what more to add. They’re not super heavy for the actual size.

Seeing you have a 281 it’s similar as heck to that just considerably lighter. I have a 288 just a bit more machine than I tend to carry for most jobs where I’m at. Especially considering the 272 can pull that bar in the picture.

I don't know about much, stronger maybe, but much stronger is a stretch. I have a Masterminded 272 and it is just a beast.
I would think it has to be like a mini 394xp. It’s like a downsized copy of it the way it’s built and the 2 port cylinder/intake block style setup. Even the big 394 style hi top filter setup that some came with is sweet.

This one lived it's life as a firewood saw for an older gentleman, it appears to be well taken care of, and seeing as how I have more husky saws and bars now than ever...and I've grown fond of 2 series saws, seemed reasonable.
I regret selling my 268 and 272s off
