Are you talking the rivets for the nose sprocket or the rivets mating the tip to the bar. Pretty sure for the sprocket the rivet number is different between 404, 3/8 & .325. there not all the same. Some are 5 rivet some are 4.
3/8 sprocket tip vs the competition

Ya the 3/8 are a bit light at 4 kinda like a laminate homeowner bar but the .404's are a little more serious with 6! Can't get to muh .325 bars ATM but there 5 or 4 from memory. But I've given prolonged hell too some 3/8 bars without tip issues. Sugi's are 5, Speed tips are 5, Stihl ES & E are 5, Forrestor are 5 but Oregon Pro Match have 6 on their 3/8 RSN bars. My Cannon Fat belly hotsaw bar has 4 on the Torrington roller tip but the new ones have 5 (which are known to be better). Yeah i think 5 would be better on Tsumuras 3/8 bars.

RI Chevy, you should download the Tsumura catalogue PDF so you can find part no's etc The company that makes Tsumura bars in Japan is 'Suehiroseiko' so Google that. I get Tsumuras much cheaper than Sugi's but I have a bunch of both. One thing I like about the Sugi bars is the big long elongated bar stud slot, great if using adapters & stuff. Redbull gets decent prices on them.

How do the Stihl ES Light bars compare with the Sugiharas and Tsumuras in terms of quality/durability?

Basically exactly the same. No difference to mounts, rails, nose or sprockets. They take the weight from the centre section of the bar.

Aren't the Stihl bars actually lighter?
By much?
Does anyone do a reduced weight 42" bar? They seem to stop at about 36" Is there too much whip in a 42" RW or simply not enough demand for it or?
Similarly, but at the other end of the scale, is there a RW 18" 3/8 .063 bar? I've seen Dave in Canada sell Tsumura variants of said 18" bars but nobody in USA. Seems .050 is all the rage up there. It could be argued there's 5/8ths of SFA difference between a solid and RW 18" bar anyway but am still keen to try one on my 261.

I think the Sugis and Tsumuras will outlast s Stihl ES light bar 5 to 1.

Really? For some reason I had the impression that the Stihl versions were more desirable (not sure why) and more expensive.

What's different about them that you think they wouldn't last as long as Sugi or Tsumura bars? Not arguing, just trying to understand.

If there was a 42” light weight bar my back would sure love to know about it. My guess is the bar would be to flexible, take an Oregon vs a cannon 42 the Oregon has more flex.

The 28” I have is floppy so I can only imagine a 37”. It’s been a good bar for me though.

The metal used in making the bars. The metal used by Sugi and Tsumura is very hard. The rails last longer, thus the bar lasts longer.

Has anyone done. Much plunge or bore cutting with the longer bars?

I did some with a 32" Oregon regular bar. No problems.

Regular bars are fine! Just wondering about the lite bars! Have to bore all the timber I cut. Mainly 28 and 32's. Haven't tried the lightweight bars in that length yet!

I have no idea on the weight difference between the brands.
