Hi!

So i had time to make myself a chainsaw.
had a bunch of old Husqvarna 346/353/351 parts around!

First repainted the crankcase, with two component acrylic paint.

Then wanted to do something different to the factory's layout.
So i fitted Husqvarna 345FR/545FX crankshaftcups(part no. 537 15 85-01) on crankshaft, clutch side one needed some light modification.
3.jpg
Then the crankshaft is "magically" in place with new bearings.
I do prefer the nylon cage ones:
flywheel side : SKF 6202 TN9/c3
cluch side : new style bearing from 550xp/560xp partslist. part code: 525 43 42-03.
5.jpg

Then was time for the cylinder and piston.
The original ones were in bad shape, despite i have plenty of 351 44mm ones.
So i decided to try a Meteor cylinder piston kit. overall pretty good kit, but needed some modifications to the ports, to match the other parts(muffler, rubber intake-boot, crankcase).

And after some work.

then, i replaced the original intakeboot to a 357xp one. part code: 503 92 87-02
and also fitted the carburettor mount also from 357xp. mount: 503 92 85-02, intakeboot inner support ring: 504 06 44-01.

And added also a bigger carburettor, from 357xp. the ZAMA C3-EL42.

and it's together.

Can you tell us more about this crank mod you did. This looks very interesting.

basically its factory crankshaft, but only with crankshaft cups from Husqvarna 345fr/545fx brushcutter. originally 346xp/353 do not have these.

Is their anything that has to be filing or grinding done to make them fit?

clutchside one needs some filing/grinding to make it fit. it needs some plastic grinded off from outside center of the cup, all that to make a clearance to the mainbearing.

Got ya. I was getting read to make a parts order and these will be added.

That would be awesome.
I did try on one. it fits but needs center plastic mod.- grind it away on both sides. then it should have clearance for bearings.
but i do not know how is with the crankcase, is there enough space?
and i think/fear that the 340/345/350 bearings with these cups are a bit to tight then, and may have some lubrication problems.

Bump! How are these saws running?
running like ordinary, maybe a bit snappier. tuned rich right now.
my older one with oem cylinder and with this mod has not blown yet :D 5 years old and frequently used(30 days in year, 8h per day) to school/train beginning loggers.

Had time to look inside, after ten tanks of fuel, everything seems in place, and then tossed a popup piston in.
