Stihl Ultra or Amsoil Saber

For those who have been into saws run on each, do you have a preference as to which oil protects/lubricates the internal parts the best......assuming the same mix ( even though Saber is more viscous and designed to run leaner mixtures)? Also does one burn cleaner than the other?

Of those two, I strongly prefer Saber. I've had good results from it. Also, Ultra STINKS! Gives me a headache, and I'm not alone in that.

You won't find a ton of love for any stihl oil other than bar oil around here.

Personally I’d run orange bottle over ultra.

I'm in the ultra stinks and gives me a headache camp. I avoid it as much as possible. Unfortunately some folks I work with from time to time run it. So I get regular reminders of how horrid it smells.

INTERESTING! I never knew about the disdain for Ultra. How does Saber stack up in the protection/clean burning category? What would be your top 3 oils that are readily available? I am not that concerned about cost as long as it is not exorbitant. Lastly, is there really a big difference in engine oil performance/protection or is it just a preference thing? Sorry for the newb questions....just trying to learn.

Good:
Red armor
Redmax
Echo blended or syn
Husky
VP
Klotz
Most name brand air cooled engine oil FD rated are good @40-1

Bad:
Stihl orange
Stihl Ultrabad

Then you have no name brands

Yamalube 2R
Amsoil Saber or Dominator
Echo Red Armor or Power Blend
Citgo/Mystic Sea and Snow or Aircooled oil

Keep a good tune and sharp chain, that will go a long ways with any oil you choose.
