Compared to the list price of $1,300 of a 661 at my local shop:

Numbers from:
GCJenks204: $1,281
Evansaw: $1,229
Ferris: $1,466

You must mistaken the currency conversion at least for my catalog price otherwise Stihl German Factory should file BANKRUPTCY by Monday morning :hanged::jaja-no::nusee:

Mine is aware of the saw, but nothing official yet... Hopefully the dealer meeting in a few months he'll get pricing.

That was 661 to compare to the others. I’ve not asked to see when he expects 462 and 500 on the shelves

Stihl, New Zealand has an interesting saw lineup.

Looks like you still have some good ones left.

Our dealer talked to the distributor and sounds like Jan/feb for the ms 462 to be on the shelves here. Hope he doesn’t have to many ms 441/461 or they might sell kinda slow after the 462 shows up.

Must be confusion between divide and multiply.

Euro aint cheaper than usd

Check again.

Like others said, just converting to USD from Euros isn't going to give a representative price. I anchored off the sticker price of a 661.

Stihl is going to charge whatever maximizes their profit.

The true test would involve a ms500cm m-tronic version, which is pointless for production, and the ms500i. Real world diffrences are whats important here folks.

As a Stihl guy, I gotta admit I wasn't overly warm and fuzzy of either if these saws as depicted in the video. They seemed to bog down in the cut with a short bar and relatively easy handed pressure on bar and chain.
Maybe I am just used to running ported saws? But I am not getting the urge to go running out and pick one up based on those videos.
Maybe my expectations were just a bit higher?

I was thinking the same thing at first until I realized what he was cutting. It's not poplar. What looks like dry dead beech and some sort of oak. Pretty hard stuff. I can't speak to the 500i but the stock 462 I ran a couple times was impressive. Tough call if I'd give up my 7910 for one or not though.

I am not sure if it was the cutting style, the chain, or the wood, but I was kind of expecting a little bit better feeling after watching.
My personal cutting style is much different. I am not one to rock the saw. I am more of a smooth level cutter.

No Hoosky guy triggered by this preview picture.
You can see a lot of dust and direct view to the air filter.
