One has the same piston as the 261 iirc

And the port layout looks real close. Never had one in my hand though.

I was curious if a little tweaking would make one a decent saw. You will be able to get your money out regardless

Stupid questions, but...
Will a new MS271 coil work on an older MS260? Will the newer plastic clutch cover for 271 fit on 026/260?
Just trying to see what if any parts will cross over to fit any of my current saws.
Thanks for your patience with my stupid questions. Lol

OK. I didn't think so, but thought I'd ask.
Looks like the tank/handle may be the same as a MS261?

We have a few at work. You know how county employees treat stuff... Lol. Not a bad saw tho. Ours have 18” .325 setups on them.

Well.... I went ahead and bought this MS271. I am hoping that lots of parts cross over with a 261cm. I have to do more research, but I think the tank/handle, muffler, handle and maybe a few other parts switch over.
I pulled the muffler, piston is toast. I am hoping maybe the jug will be OK. Just curious if the bearings are OK.
Saw has good carb, coil, etc.

Bearings will be fine. Jug you need to pull to check it.
261 is a pro saw, 271 farm saw. Likely nothing swaps over.

Thank you sir. Is that all that crosses over as far as hard parts? I realize the rim, sprocket, etc is the same. I was hoping the muffler would cross over, but I see they are different.

LOL. I may send this whole thing to Dallas. Either that, or I will keep parts for 261 and part out the rest.
