It don’t look like the ‘two sheet rock screw method’ I’m used to using.[emoji848]

Tips or tricks in order to get this rodeo going?

Your very welcome.....Be interested how easy you find it as iv not needed to remove these limiters myself yet. I have the tooling just not had the need to do a full strip and remove on this sort of cap yet.

Low side damn near fell out. I had to hold the screw with pliers and tap on the carb body with my tiny hammer for the high side.

Do I need to save them?

‘Eff the EPA !

I would...if they came out without messing up the plastic around the jet screw , then they should go back in reverse of extraction. I wouldn't know if these needles move much without the caps. Some do fine , some just rotate to easy without the limiter. Getting new caps is not so easy here .

One thing I found out about a Stihl MS251 is that they flood easily. At least mine does. Choke pull it more than twice and it's flooded. And, it doesn't seem to give you much warning. Mine is the 251C. LOML can flood it just as easily as I can. ;)

There was no plastic around the jet screw that I can see.

Someone into it before I came along possibly. [emoji848]

Can’t run it in wood until I get a new oil pump. Aftermarket pump not worth spit. [emoji37]

Sounds likely that they have been out before.....That could explain how come the L cap "dam near fell out" as you said :D

How many turns out L & H?

This thing is faking on its face in the cut.

Likely a fuel delivery problem (filter, line or carb inlet screen).

The older carb on the 251 was ..without caps ..L =1 out and H=1 1/2 . I think the screws on the carb you have with the metal caps have a finer pitch thread so you may find more turns out needed. A lot of the current Zama carbs have gone this way with many over 2 turns out on the H.

Try the high side richer then. [emoji1696]

Also see if the exhaust is coked up. [emoji848]

Yup...it should do "something" ether way before you decide if a different carb is the way forward.
