Looks like it has a rigid brass stem. That could put some stress on things, much more so than one with a (flexible) hose. Maybe they wanted to reduce the internal volume of the tester? Also, if it doesn't have a (super soft spring) schrader valve at the plug-bore end, that'd be a negative.
Over here in the USofA, I've had good results with Snap-On, Owatonna and others- with flex hoses and aforementioned valves at the plug-end.
