Stihl 462C vs. 462

This probably ain't what you are thinking....I won't be running these saws head-to-head or anything like that, just showing the visible differences in the two saws side-by-side while I have both at my house right now.

I figured I'd offer a sneak peak at the EU 462, as I understand it won't be made available in other parts of the globe.

I've taken an affinity to this saw, but may still plan to post it in the classifieds also.

The 462C is apparently very easy to convert to a 462 in the future should anyone want to do so.

The top cover is identical between the two saws, with the 462C having the relief in the molded plastic, yet not having holes drilled to accommodate carburetor adjustments.

Rear cover and multi-switch.
So, the 462 has traditional Run, High Idle, Choke and Off.

Both are spring loaded to the Run position automatically.

Anyone wishing to build a race saw, or just do simple conversion in the future, it appears to come down to the coil, carb and few tidbits here and there.

Attention, this is not right. The flywheel is not the same between the MS 462 and MS 462 C-M. The version with heated handles has a third version flywheel, too.

The flywheels appear identical, but do have different P/N's.

The 462 is supposed to be impressive power to weight wise. I'm excited to try one when ever I can. What's the difference between the carb and MT? Curious!

Iirc, they are different on the 462 saws.
