Hello folks, I'm wanting to buy myself a saw for xmas. Well another saw, already bought myself a new 261. Always wanted an 090 or 070 so now is the time. I may settle for an 880 or 088 but really want to add an 090 to my collection. I'm looking to stay in the $750-1,000 range, I know this is a tight budget but I don't mind one in rough shape. Don't really have anything worth trading towards but we can talk if you have something to offer.

If you are going to use it, go with the 088/880. The 070/090 are fun to own but not near as much fun to run, plus the weight.

If your going to run an 090/070, get an A/V model. The standard 090's vibe so bad my fingers went numb for two days after one very big long bucking cut in hard wood. Even AV gloves don't help completely. That said, if I'm cutting big 60" + wood, I'd take a good stock 090 all over any 088, ported or not, and have done so without regret. Now if your running bars under 60" there are better saws than either one of those mentioned.
