You got to expect that with .404
but like you say some guys have more sensitive hands.
I was blessed I guess, not like some young mechanics I know who had to switch trades because just a impact ratchet will cause lots of pain.

You ever try softer mounts? I know Husqvarna and Stihl offered soft and hard rubber mounts. I put some soft ones on my '93 272XP.
Yeah I tried all of them. I can tolerate for a little while with a smooth square chain. 1 or 2 tanks tops with padded gloves. 1128 with good mounts don't seem to bother me near as much.

My 288 is all spring mounts and I have the thick rubber pro safety wrap handle. It's pretty easy on your hands. It has the 4 rear spring mounts from the 288 lite version and the big front spring from the normal 288, no front tank mounts.

I was talking about the 660. The 288s I preferred the rubber with the big spring up front and springs near the trigger. It was fine on vibes.

Well, you guys done did it, kept talking about 288 this, 288 that, you brought up the past and it's painful...

Kept looking at mine in its box, forlornly collecting dust on its scored exposed piston, the thumping ghost of its idle reverberating through my conciousness, the missing screws mocking me with their absence, the wallowed out thread holes laughing silently...

Oh well, *s-word happens

There's an Ol' chicken legs special 288xb getting strapped to a pigeon as we speak

Thanks Skippy!!!

I've got, or had all three, early 064, KS Non-decomp 288 and an XS500i and I'd say they all have their place :). Different horses for different courses - although he XS500i is becoming a firm favourite and I'd be putting my money on it getting the most use.

Resurrection!!!!

I'm literally at this point. Anyone's opinion change? I've kinda been lusting for a 064 for a while now, but it seems like 288's are...more available?
IMHO with mods being equal a 288 won’t feel drastically different from your Rattler 281. I’d go for the 064.
