Stihl 064 vs Husqvarna 288xp

but like you say some guys have more sensitive hands.
I was blessed I guess, not like some young mechanics I know who had to switch trades because just a impact ratchet will cause lots of pain.

You ever try softer mounts? I know Husqvarna and Stihl offered soft and hard rubber mounts. I put some soft ones on my '93 272XP.

Yeah I tried all of them. I can tolerate for a little while with a smooth square chain. 1 or 2 tanks tops with padded gloves. 1128 with good mounts don't seem to bother me near as much.

My 288 is all spring mounts and I have the thick rubber pro safety wrap handle. It's pretty easy on your hands. It has the 4 rear spring mounts from the 288 lite version and the big front spring from the normal 288, no front tank mounts.

I was talking about the 660. The 288s I preferred the rubber with the big spring up front and springs near the trigger. It was fine on vibes.

Thats what I was doin with the Red!! Lol! I bought a new Honda push mower and padded the handle and had left over so put it on the 046 to try!! Works great

For the size/displacement, the MS500i is WAY ahead of them all !

288 is definitely the simpler saw, less parts, less breaking points. 064 is a legend for a reason, parts are pricey but great saws. I had a 500i, thought it was ok, but sold it, more hype to me then it delivered.

I've got, or had all three, early 064, KS Non-decomp 288 and an XS500i and I'd say they all have their place . Different horses for different courses - although he XS500i is becoming a firm favourite and I'd be putting my money on it getting the most use.

IMHO with mods being equal a 288 won’t feel drastically different from your Rattler 281. I’d go for the 064.
