Bad Kevin, bad!!!!!!
I'd rather keep my teeth. No cake for you
I never had a problem with vibes on my 064's. Ran them 7-8 hrs 5 days a week. Wore them out after a year. Ran 18"-20" bars on them.Need pro safety with this thick wrap on handlebar. Grip is really soft. Never feel saw vibrating View attachment 105967
It doesnt touch anywhere other than the mounting locationsI never had a problem with vibes on my 064's. Ran them 7-8 hrs 5 days a week. Wore them out after a year. Ran 18"-20" bars on them.
But I never ran a full wrap handle. From looking at that pic of that full wrapped 064, is it possible the handle could contact the sprocket cover? Maybe a little unintentional vibration?
Mike, what saw or saws do you currently use when milling? Ever milled with a 288 or 064?I haven't kept a 64 or 288. Had at least 15 total combined.
I never used one of them. I used 046, 066, 084, 088, 385, 390, 394, 395, and 7900.Mike, what saw or saws do you currently use when milling? Ever milled with a 288 or 064?
QTLAThat's where it needs to stay.

Right now all I have is 346, 261, 372, 385, and 084 pipe saw.
Notice much difference in power when milling with the 394, 395, or 7900?I never used one of them. I used 046, 066, 084, 088, 385, 390, 394, 395, and 7900.

20" or narrower the 7900 was the fastest. 395 wouk d lumber along but without dropping the rakers crazy the 7900 was just as fast with less fuel usedNotice much difference in power when milling with the 394, 395, or 7900?
Majority of vibration come from the chain. The Oregon Anti vibe and Stihl Comfort chain designs introduced about 15 years ago or so helps out some but it boils down to how well a sawchain is sharpened and maintained. Are the vibes realy that bad on an 064? My 288 has nothing but rubber bushings and the big front dog spring, I really like how it feels. I have been known to be pretty tolerant of vibes in a saw though. Could be the nerve damage in my hands...Don't know. After my hoosky builders are complete I really want to get an 066 or 064 just to broaden my horizons.
Some of it is chain. Stihl 404 is the worst I've ever run. Even with a stoned rwce chain the 1122 stihls vibration frequency gets to me after a while. It has the same frequency as a 9" electeic grinder that puts my hands to sleep.Majority of vibration come from the chain. Must be alot of guys out there blaming a saw when they're only to blame themselves Hahaha.
In all fairness I was a little rough on you bearinless. My apologies.Because you sound like an idiot!
You got to expect that with .404Some of it is chain. Stihl 404 is the worst I've ever run. Even with a stoned rwce chain the 1122 stihls vibration frequency gets to me after a while. It has the same frequency as a 9" electeic grinder that puts my hands to sleep.
Bicycle padded bar wrap does wonders and the Pro Safety wrap on my 064/66 is at least 2x as thick and supple as factory wrap. Makes a big differenceYou got to expect that with .404
but like you say some guys have more sensitive hands.
I was blessed I guess, not like some young mechanics I know who had to switch trades because just a impact ratchet will cause lots of pain.
You ever try softer mounts? I know Husqvarna and Stihl offered soft and hard rubber mounts. I put some soft ones on my '93 272XP.
