The lower mounting holes and the holes to the cylinder both needed to be slotted to align the muffler properly. The 1/4” spacer worked, but was slightly too thick. I omitted the gaskets and used copper head gasket sealer. A 3/16” spacer would have been perfect. (Or a 1/8” spacer with gaskets on both sides)

Good news. That means an 046 Jug should fit even better. Not sure that the base would trim up though.

I was thinking of making endcaps for the 10mm pin to fit a 12mm piston. This is where the dominant titanium rod comes to mind.
That would work nicely. I think a 046 cylinder would physically fit. When milling the case Mattyo clearanced both sides a little wider, I bet it would fit without even without narrowing the base. You would probably need to mill the edge of the flywheel to clear the transfer tunnel. I ground down the outside, but the 046 is wider and you might not be able to take enough off.

Got a chance to put a few more hours in today and some Chinese plastics I ordered came in. Some trimming was needed and didn’t want to ruin the stock covers so I used few cheap huztl covers. Added the stud to the top of the cylinder so the top cover attaches and reattached the handle.
The stock filter won’t work with the 044 carb, so the idea was to add 044 parts and hd2 filter to the saw. The saw came with a broken and cracked filter cover so I started by cutting that up. Then cut the 044 filter base to fit inside.

Needed to trim the outer 044 filter cover in a few spots but it fit fine

If I get a chance I’ll try to start it later
