Had an 024 with the same issues.
P,V test was very good .
Rebuilt carb a few times.
Nothing helped until i put a new WT 194 carb on it.
It has been running great for a year now.

Some of the 026 saws have these issues , new carbs have fixed 2 that i have had on my bench.

All that said each saw is different they will lie to you.

Well, I dont think its the carb. Put another good carb on it and it helped, but it didnt solve the problem. Next: stage 2 seals.

Well... At least you ruled out the carb. It was worth a shot...

My 024S didn’t like a 194. It’s got an s22? carb, I’d have to look again. But it didn’t like the 194 no matter how I tuned. It is BG deleted, timing advanced and muffler modded.

It had an 22 on it, switched to a 194. Got the flywheel side crank in, clutch side tomorrow. Then we'll see what she does.

Well, we have a wiener. It looks like Mr. Deets was right. I replaced the flywheel side seal, it looked allitle crusty, the pto side looked almost new. Fired it up let it warm up, tilted it every kind of direction, didnt change pitch. Let it idle, didnt change pitch. I heard it could happen, first time for me.

I know its a pain and alot of work, but the only real way to ever know for sure is if you run a tank with WT194 carb. And a tank 22 carb. Feel for yourself which one is better and stronger.

Makes sense.

Probably had top set it rich to make idle, then puddled.

I just had an 036 only lean out when hot, was the seal as well. Also wouldnt idle right once warm.

Yeah, thats what mine was doin as well. But why they didnt replace both seals while they were in there confuses me.
