Well I have two saw that provided 4-5 years of 10 cord a year service that got set aside 2 years ago due to new saws. I had an intention to sell them a year ago but life and obligations got in the way. Anyways both saws were starting to have carb problems that I couldn’t figure out. They got new kits and deep cleaning soaking overnight and they would run good for 5-10 tanks and act up again.

The 024 liked to idle down slowly, like drop to 3k for a few seconds and then drop to 2.5k idle, well that would be an air leak right? Nope, it holds 7psi pressure while drop pulling it over. I have a the Stihl pressure vac kit and I couldn’t get either saw to leak. I did try to swap the carb on the 024 for a Chinese model and that got rid of the slow return to idle but it doesn’t run quite like with the oem carb. I would like $150 shipped.

The 024

It’s 150 psi and I thought I had a pic of piston but I can’t find it. I’ll dig it out and snap one tonight.

The 028 just didn’t seemed like it would change rpm depending on what side you put it on, same deal couldn’t get it to leak during pressure test and I would flip it bend it jerk it and pull it. I wanted so bad to find the leak, it has to be there so I ordered parts for it but didn’t get around to fixing in the last year. I have a set of oem seals and an intake boot that I will include with the saw.

The 028

It’s also 150psi and same story on the piston. I would like $175 shipped.

I replaced these saws with a ported MMWS 241c and MMWS 362cm. I realize I will never touch these saws again and I am choosing to release them against what my CAD thinks, but I don’t have enough time to fix them.

Bummer you couldn't get them figured out, sure someone will with a little more tinkering.
Great seller, easy to work with.

That’s a 100% common problem on those saws sir. I have worked on a few 024/26 for freinds and all did it. Fuel puddles in intake boot at idle and does that. Annoying yes...but it doesn’t hurt them. I told the owners it was normal and none have come back for repair. Supposedly you can grind the lip on the cylinder where fuel puddles but haven’t tried that. I just set the idle a tad higher.

Huh never new that. I thought I was gong crazy.

The 024 might actually be pics of the 026 I sold a few months ago...gonna have to get that all figured out tomorrow. I’m working 12 hour days right now and way too much to do before I can play with saws.

The 024 is a super, not sure why I never realized that. It is an 024 AVS.

Not clear on your leak testing. You did vacuum test at same time?

Yes, under vacuum and pressure I could turn the Saw over, flex it, and leave it and it would stay constant. I’ve chalked it up to gas pooling in the intake, supposedly that is a known issue with the Saw series.

FYI both saws are sold. I updated the title as well.
