Picked this 680 up today looks pretty nice. I see a few scores through the exhaust port on the piston so the cylinder will be coming off. Comp's at 170 though. The carb was flopping around. Loose carb adapter. Intake side of the cylinder looks new. I can see a bit of transfer on the exhaust side through the plug hole, The rings aren't stuck.
WJ-3 carb.
It must be an early Monday morning saw as the SN tag is on upside down.

Looking forward to getting it running but know little about it. except that's 5 cube or so.

Really looking forward to it now.

If the piston is in crap shape I've read that maybe an 064 or 066 piston, with a little clearance issue to be fixed may be an option. Anyone else heard that?

I'm rebuilding a 680 currently and the closest replacement piston I was able to find is a big bore 372 piston.

Looking at the PTO side seal carrier (I don't have the flywheel off yet) and it looks a bit chintzy. Do you guys apply a little sealer like motoseal around the outside of the crank seal?
For the 680

Do you think its loose?

No. Just not as tight as it would be in a saw case.

I can pop the old one out with my finger which I would expect in a piece of thin wall plastic so I can't be sure if that's sufficient.

I will order a pair of seals on Monday.

Jacob,

Which 372 BB piston are you going to use? I see some aftermarket ones on line.

The only aftermarket pistons I've used so far were either Meteor or Episan.

What are my 667 carb options? I have a bing48 on ‘er now but it leaks air bad when pressure testing. I believe this is what is causing it to run lean and score the piston. Will other carbs be direct bolt on? Will the linkage match up?

Anyone know of a source of parts for my 680? Looking for a sprocket and the dust shield that covers in the oil pump.

Maybe not worth much but here are the carbs for the 667 that Walbro lists for the 667.
23 00 592 HDA-73-1
23 00 780 HDA-158-1
23 00 592 HDA-57-1

All 16.67mm venturi.

If you can find one they should all bolt right up
