So when did Stihl start using cardboard gaskets?

I think I found my air leak.

Bought 2 -036 yesterday. This one has a scored aftermarket cylinder and piston. Fuel soaked and ripped cardboard. Who does this stuff???

Atleast the seals have checked out. Could be a cool little saw. I'm thinking it's an early red lever 036.

I think that bedsides the cardboard there must have been some foreign matter in there. It's deep. It was a no name cylinder and a Mahle piston.

Not sure on the line. It says 1118, the 034/6 is 1125, but I've seen lines like that before. They may cross model lines at times.

I'll take a closer look at it to see how it fits. Surprising besides the homemade diaper box gasket, scored p/c the rest of the saw is really pretty nice.

IIRC the 038 and the early 036 use the same fuel lines. The 038 designation is 1119
