Cleared some undergrowth along my driveway and removed a couple of small trees. Need to do more before the poison oak and yellow jackets get going. Also set up another madrone log for milling. Hoping to get three or four short ones done tomorrow before the return of rain.

I did paperwork and cleaned in the office most of the day. Not too exciting. I was running a bunch of stuff through the paper shredder. With some imagination, I was chipping wood...

Had tornados in our area on Thursday. Luckily it went back up before it hit our house. We were in a safe place and was in the “hook” of the storm though. Did have one tree that fell on our land but luckily nowhere near any structure. Got it cleaned up and the broken part down. That was my first successful bore cut and got it to go the opposite of a small lean exactly where I wanted it to go. Also got the top of the garden opened up to be able to dry more and till deeper later. And got my daughter a small raised bed for her to have her own garden. We have like 5 more of these not sure what I want to grow in the other ones yet.

And the garden with my daughters “garden” in between the pear trees.

Split and stacked some wood today. Cleaned the gutters on the garage and got out a bunch of stuff to make a big batch of chili. That will be about a 24 hour project. I'll start cooking in the morning and do some brush burning in between.

Ran around picking up cookies. Neighbors think I’m crazy anyway so no use giving them evidence in plain sight...

Up here Cottonwood/Poplar cookies shrink up and go into a conical shape after a while

I was unloading my trailer at the community woodlot a few years back and the attendant asked me why I had made all the little Chinese hats...

Burned some brush and pine straw, canned some chili, changed the hydraulic filters on the Bobcat and working on cleaning out the inline filters too. Got the right side done but the left has challenging access. Also need to clean the fluid inlet screen. Hopefully that hold it for a few years once I get it done. I don't put many hours on the Bobcat but it's a handy and necessary tool.

After getting off work, I tilled in the garden some more. Think I have it almost all level. Going to rain tonight, but I need to till in some fertilizer anyway. Also have some freezing temps still to go next week. Hope to plant on the last Saturday of the month hopefully.

Finished servicing the Bobcat's hydraulic system today. Seems I STILL have a leak somewhere but at least I got the water out of the system. I know that the hose I changed was leaking but apparently something else is too. I'll pursue that later. At least it's mobile now. Moved a couple large buckets full of firewood with it. Leaving for a weekend in Virginia in the very early AM so I'll need to pack this evening. Have to be up and going by 04:00. Yuck! (I usually sleep to 8 or 9am and go to bed around midnite or 1am)

First arborist class for me today, hosted by Vermeer and headed up by North American Training Solutions. 9hr class

It was a very basic seminar but a good opportunity to see some different climbing gear and means/methods.

Getting an oil change done by my 15 year old. When having kids finally pays off.
I filled it though. Didnt want the smell of burning oil for a week incase he spilled it lol. Its kinda pain with the big 5 liter jugs and he is like a bull in a china shop.

Don’t have a welder right now, so had to use some u-bolts to make a better radiator guard. Worked out well with a quick trip to Ace Hardware. Nothing new in the chainsaw area. They never have anything cool at this Ace.

Also installed some 2” spacers from Richard at Bro-Tek.

They’re nice and will help with that tippy feeling on this small tractor.

the property is very slowly coming along.

If i can get some free time in the next few weeks i can weld that for you.
Plenty of steel laying around the garage, MIG welder, grinders, bandaids etc.

Working 12 hrs a day right now. My mother with a broken leg and wife with a broke collarbone are eating my time.
They both work with me so i am doing 3 jobs right now.
