2 of us pieced down a very dead pine, Fell a few dead gum trees and oaks(nothin bigger then 20" stump), took down some scrubby sassafras/spikey pear tree clusters. Ground all stumps but the dead pine, couldn't get grinder past the ditch. Done by 10:30, dumped chips then checked fluids in all trucks/equipment and cleaned all saws. Home by 12:30, Cut up some willow oak I had dropped off last week. Split some and it wasn't bad, little stringy/knotty. I had heard it was a tougher oak to split but it's nothin compared to pin oak. Nothin like chestnut oak but totally doable by hand, 3.5lb double bit split about a face cord in an hour and a half tops. Loaded the house up w/ wood for upcoming storms and put a few days worth by back door. Just to make sure I was covered for a cold wet week ahead. Single digits coming sunday/monday which is frigid for us.

Put a new throttle cable on my snowblower. Then blew some snow. Dam thing quit on me just like it was turned off. Had to go get ruck to bring back home as i was down the street doing another lane. Pulled apart and cleaned coil with wire brush. Sanded the points and off she went again. Not sure what exactly caused it to shut off but maybe i better order a set of new points and condensor for the old girl.

Then brouht some hard maple and oak in. Supposed to be real cold next few days.

Cleared 150’ of right-of-way on my property frontage. Trying to create a second exit out of the property.

Easy clearing. A bunch of saplings and a Few small trees.

Used a few tools today.

I'm inside today doing paperwork (single digits and windy), but was splitting some of that 30+" Hickory the other day and I see why I dulled so many 36" and 28" chains … apparently I ate several nails! Was just trying to get done that day, so when one saw stopped cutting well I just picked up another.

Hate when that happens. I've run into barbed wire, nails, screws, & even a few bullets over the years....

Blew some more snow after work. Had some more trouble. Primer line cracked. Had to replace that befor i started. Not been a good season for it after last year it ran flawless.

Also need to replace fuel line sometime. It has some cracks wher it goes to carb. Just put that on two years ago when i got it. Stuff dont last like it used to.

For the winter I've been a weekend logger. Timber prices are good, so it's finally the right time to take some wood off our property.....Hard to believe I'm having fun and being well paid for it..lol :)

Pics from yesterday....

I hit so much random stuff on the estate, I stopped using full chisel a long time ago. I was recently given a free ring of the new Husky 3/8 chain to try from my wholesaler, but I haven't even bothered to put it on the bar because I haven't seen any trees I trust yet.
