Spent more time today trying to get the muzzle loader zeroed. Tried shooting the 240gr sabots with 83 gr instead of 100 gr. That seemed a slight improvement, until it wasn't.
I then tried a heavier belted bullet and back to 100 gr. That seems fairly stable but I haven't confirmed it yet. The barrel twist is 1/26 (or 28, can't remember) I quit shooting to go hunting but I got out late and flushed a herd of deer while getting into my stand. Then I saw four more on the way home. They're like mice around here.
Other activities for the day included burning and raking leaves and wiring in a new hot water heater at a rental property. I also made and installed a door for the crawl space of that house.

Got another load cut and home. Had to stop a cupple time for rain. Kinda crappy day. Used the ugly duckling saw today for most the little stuff and the echo cs 520 for the bigger stuff.
Little log cart sure is handy. Gonna weld a reciever on it to slide a tonge in to tow behind atv or mower tractor.

That yellow saw has McCulloch colors but the shape looks like a Homelite 150. What is it?

Looked at a big land clearing project today. Will be taking down a few larger trees but mostly hundreds of smaller saplings. It will be a lot of bend over work, pole saw work and dragging brush and burning. I may take the Bobcat with the grapple to expedite things (if I can get the hydraulic fluid to stay in it...) It's also going to include removing barb wire fencing (both round wood posts and T-posts).

I spent the rest of the day fixing brake lines on my son's truck. He'll be coming back from overseas soon and will want it roadworthy. Have the lines made and installed, just need to do more bleeding.

Related to the above project I had to work on my hoist so I could move the truck up and down. sequences, sequences...

Purchased a siding brake this morning and then this afternoon spent another session with the muzzle loader... finally got that thing dialed in. Now shooting 100gr of triple 7 and a 320 gr belted ballistic tip bullet. Shot a tight group finally.

Nice to hear you were able to dial it in! Good luck on the trip.

Got the son's truck out of the shop and drove it to a tree job today. First time it's been on the road since April...
Took down 3 trees. Pulled a 22" dbh Tulip, pulled a 22" dbh Loblolly Pine and wedged a 13" dbh pine with a bend in it. In retrospect I should've roped that one too but it all turned out ok after a bit of an unsure outcome. ie, all the trees landed on target. I felled while Groundi pulled.
We both limbed and sectioned the trees and then went home as I have other stuff I need to get done. Lots more work to do at that site.

After work i delivered a trailer load of wood to a buddy . Then came home and oil sprayed the truck and suv so ther ready for winter. Thats a gross messy job. Id like to build a big ramp to drive them on. It sucks being so low and cant craw under very well.

Started the day by gluing down a cylinder I ported on a Asian 440 BB. Thought I would get it running today, but then the phone rang.

One of my Landscaper friends calls me and asks if I can come over with a big saw. Says he has to take down the large Tulip and none of his saws are big enough. I tell him no problem, soft Tulip should be easy. But just to be on the safe side, I threw 2 660s w 36" bars and 2 Hybrids with 28" bars in the trailer. Good thing I did!!! The large Tulip turned out to be a large Smooth Bark Hickory that had twisted about 30' up and looked like an inverted V.

There was so much tension within that wood that your bar would get locked in place even when stuff was completely off the ground and looked to be tension free. Had to cut bars out with other saws about 4 times. By the time 4:00 rolled around (I got there before 1:00) I was down to one good running hybrid. The other saws, chains dulled, or jumped, etc.

The first thing I did was cut the top end of the V so it was hanging off the ground. Then figured I would take another round off of it to lighten it up some more. My 36" bar got locked solid in place, had to cut and chisel it out! I will be honest, I never saw a pinch coming from trying to cut a round that is not making any ground contact! And it was a solid pinch, worst one of the day!

My 660s and Hybrids all ripped through that Hickory pretty fast, but Hickory is tough stuff and with all the pinches, chains dulled and stretched really fast (and I run Stihl chain).

So I ended up going home with one dump truck load, and one trailer load of Hickory! Numerous other loads went elsewhere. Sorry, no pics, the 4 man crew cleaned it up about as fast as I could cut it, plus they helped me roll logs and unstick the bar. In addition I did not have any time, was just trying to finish things up!

I came home from work to this.
P1040738-2.JPG

I thought "cool, lets get to the core of it" and I start tearing up the outer layer.
WTF, a Husky - somebody must be joking!?!?
P1040742-2.JPG

OK, lets see how many nuts and bolts are missing on this thing - so I continue unwrapping.
A lot of trash and an accompanying trash bag, at this point I can't figure if the trash bag is for the Husky or the trash (is there a difference? ).
P1040744.JPG P1040745.JPG

I spot some useful items and take them out carefully.
Not a total loss, a used good condition SugiHara bar, two Oregon small spline sprockets in .325" & 3/8" both 7T, 2x100ml Dolmar 2-stroke oil, a tool pouch, a fairly worn chain and whatever that syringe thing is supposed to be.
Oh, and a single spike.

. . . TO BE CONTINUED !

So, do I leave the Husky in the bag and just toss it?
Tomorrow is trash day, a great opportunity to get rid of it!

Did a small tree job today after work. Two trees little higher then the phone lines. About 22 inch at the stump. Had to trim a bunch of higher branch befor i could nock the trees down. Took a little longer then i figured, But all went well.
