Has anyone used this style line release. I got one but never tried it fishing yet. It seems the fish will release it good bit it i need to bring line up empty it seems like it may be a pain to release.
Any input. Might try it next time i go.

It's by far the best release out there. They're hard to find...only available at Bass Pro in Canada.
If you find it anywhere else, please post. It's close to $30 Cdn.

Once set, it works at a wide range of depths , lure drag, and trolling speed. I won't use the clothes
pin style anymore.

I was going to tell a story about how I caught this brown trout on 4lb line and it took 3 days to reel in. But really this is my old True Temper Uni-Spin rod with a Bronson 63 reel. One I use to use back in the days in upstateDSCF2320.JPG DSCF2329.JPG DSCF2324.JPG NY on Lake Champlain. I had to dig it out. And the trout is from a hatchery that I worked at that fell ill to Hurricane Hugo back in 1996. All we could hear was Hugo is coming.

Thanks!!! I was pretty excited. For northern New Jersey it was a huge fish!!
Nice one.
We still caught buckets twenty years ago to six in one wild system and up to nine in a stocked farmers pond as kids. He feed them like coy. We snuck in many times. Got shot at too. Fun times.

Sorry for the late reply, I'm away a lot without internet.

The top clip goes to the downrigger cable, the bottom clip hooks onto cannon ball.

When trolling , the white tension adjuster is forward and tilted up slightly ,
the black part trails at a slightly downward angle

The fish line is wrapped 320 degrees at the rear groove. ( Just fold the line at the desired set back for your lure,
...hook the loop into the groove and pull line into the groove.)

I doesn't look like it works and I would probably never try it, but my friend/fishing partner put me onto it.
It definitely work and works well...no line damage too.

With Summer rolling around here down-under, I'm trying to decide on a few goals for my Kayak fishing adventures this season. I try to pick a few ideas to test and stick with them until I learn as much as I can and then move onto the next goals. There are, unfortunately, a few left over from last season I haven't nailed, but I'm contemplating a few more and wondering what the salt water fishos in particular on here think about:

1. zero swivels
2. zero leader (this could be dicey)
3. exclusively inline eye single lure hooks for every type of fishing
