Why in the heck does this thing eat valve cores?? After I check maybe 8 or so saws it starts leaking by at the valve! Help! I get the replacement low pressure valve cores from Napa which is used in their housebrand tester I believe to be made by OTC

I had an issue with mine last year and ended up getting the replacement valve core out from Snap On and it's been flawless since. I have the exact same tester as you.

Seems odd since the valve part of the core seals on itself.

Mine does the same thing. I'm back to using my cheap gauge. They both read the same.

Whats the deal Mike? Im about ready to throw this 200$ piece of crap away

Throw it my way. I'll use it. I have the same set but with one more adapter hose. Had it for years and have never changed a core.
Sounds like you might be getting dirt into it somehow.

I think I've went through 10 cores. The other day one saw and the core was shot.

Didn't the ITT Tech chainsaw school teach you to clean the
cylinder prior to compression testing. :)
It was a new rebuild. All washed up and been run a tank. It was snap on brand cores too

You should have the wonderful lifetime snap on warranty no?
Not on that. Only hard line tools get the ltw.

I've heard of this issue before and have always suggested people buy the OTC tester kit. Great deal at 50-60 bucks.

I have a cheap $30 one from knecht's and it's been going good for a long time. The last time i used it i forgot to hit the release valve and it didn't leak any pressure after sitting in the drawer for several days.

I paid $70 for mine on ebay. First core lasted a year or longer.
