Its nasty and dirty rode hard and put up wet needs a good pressure washing. Runs on prime the air filter is shot oil is nasty and the gas is rank the blade couldn't cut butter, All complete though and has really good compression should make a nice mower to pick up leaves with.
I like adventures like this going to pull the carb and let it sit overnight in the chem dip.

Nice mowers but they sure plug up in wet grass. I had an 18" aluminum deck with 5 horse Tecumseh 5 horse. In the dry it sure would pack the bag.

What engine is on it? That looks like the one Dad bought in the mid-late '80's which had a 4hp Tecumseh on it which was a bit underpowered but tough. I think we hung at least 1 if not 2 more engines on it before we scrapped the whole mower and he bought another. I also pressed it into light commercial service, at one time mowing 7 pretty good sized yards weekly with it, or my old Lawn Boy in my teenage years... I stayed in shape in the heat!

Mine had a 5hp Briggs. Heavy and didn't rill too easy but a good quality mower.

Did the usual on it plug, filter, carb cleaning and diaphragm oil change and sharpening the blade
scrubbed it in dawn soap and gave it a pressure washing. soaked the bag in castrol power clean i found up a discount store and it really brought the color back out.
