howdy guy's
i've been have'in a hell of a time setting up my used grinder i bought.
does this pic show anything that would make it impossible or very hard to get the same results on both sides of the chain?
i'm wonderin' if the arm is the culprit.INTERNET POST PIC NO.478 Large Web view.jpg

I can't see your wheel. It looks sort of small, and your dressers are near the end of their travel. May not be causing the problem, but something to consider. (soon time for new wheel)

If it's off from side to side it's either the motor or the swingarm.

Looks like you have plenty of chain to grind. Good luck

Ok guys. Just picked up a simington 450 older machine. What do I need to be aware of with them? I'm familiar with the newer 451c but didn't know if there were anything that'd I'd need to be aware of. It came with a salmon and a white wheel. Thnks.

Seemed like a good place to post a link to a Madsen's & Oregon square grind contest. Go to the end of the catalog pdf to see the results. Pretty interesting.

One thing that I noticed is the pictures of the links do not have marks above the rivets from the grinding wheel. They said at least number 3 was from a swing arm machine. I wonder if they are thinning the underside of the wheel to clear ?

Their side angle on the wheel is probably real thin by the looks of the chain

Another item that struck me as odd was the comments about the gullets. If they all picked up speed when they were cleared, why wouldn't the people sending them in do it. The multi stepped angles in the pictures were serrated looking.

Laziness is my guess. When I ground I wouldnlet them go. Filing it's harder to do with a gullet in the way

If they did hit the strap, looks like it has been cropped out of the picture.

I suppose they would be DQ'd for weakening the tie strap.

I find it interesting that the #1 chain in the bucking cut didn't make an appearance in top six chains.

I'd love to see it...

No adjustment on the arm, you get what you get.

Swing the arm and wheel around to both sides and measure the distance from a marked spot on the stone to the chain holder. If it's not the same on both sides you'll have to shim the motor to make them equal.
