Love it. Handles great and rides awesome.
Only complaint so far is that sometimes I get a sort of studder when it’s cold and up shifting from 2-3. Once and awhile it spikes the rpms a bit when shifting 2-3. I’ve been doing some reading about the torque converter issues these truck were having.

Tcc shudder will feel like driving on rumble strips.
If it only does it on the first shift, there is a clutch, cant recall which, that does an air purge on first 2-3 shift after a cold soak that causes that.

That’s weird, my truck has an instant economy and average economy meter that looks like it says average? I also noticed I don’t get as good of mileage on cruise control as I would if I’m just driving it on my own. How much bigger are your tires in stock? I have a landscaping friend, he has an eco-boost Ford and he changed the tires from the stock for apply to 10 ply’s and he lost three mpg
Its got a 2.5” leveling kit, 35s on 22” rims, and I trimmed the air dam down from 8” tall to about 3” tall.

10mpg. All day, every day.

Nope. 6.0, 4l80 and 4.10 gears.
I had an 02 with the 8.1 prior to it.
That also got 10mpg!

I’m definitely a fan of the LS engines... I have an LS-1 that is going in my CJ7, along with an NV4500.

When I bought my ‘02 Powerstroke I contemplated buying an 8.1/ZF-6 truck, but I couldn’t find one anywhere local. I could’ve probably looked around and found one, but I also decided I wanted a diesel and I was able find a Ford with a ZF-6 at a nearby dealer.

What did you use to trim your air dam? I am going to trim mine and have been thinking about what tool would be best to cut it.
I took it completely off the truck and cut it with a band saw. 2nd pic was with 2wd one... still too tall IMO. Taper it up from where it bends to the end of the bumper... if you leave it straight it will look weird. Then use a sander or file to clean up the edges.

My Cummins (‘06) could cruise all day at 2000 rpm and get 20 MPG.

Was good day to mess with the truck a bit. I fixed the flexing fuel pedal bracket, hot wired my fog lights to come on automatically with the head lights and stay on with the high beams, did an antenna relocate, tinted my headlights and then did an oil change. I wonder what I should do to her next???9625391A-BEBA-41D3-8E2A-5793DE2FFC4B.jpegFA4C3438-38D8-450F-AF24-17A4E13C8594.jpeg F1BEC5B3-4C65-4F66-BE0E-5D37AB8623C6.jpeg

Your tank is always too full, You'll get lower fuel consumption on an empty tank!

Just sayin'! ;)

Nice trucks You guys have.
I'd have to drill my own crude oil well to drive one of those through my tiny town with the fuel prices we have.
There are a couple (smaller ones) in my town, one is always parked in the same spot and I have never seen it move, the other two are workhorses and they are usually hauling something around.

Mine shows me what I’m getting as I’m driving. It was pretty much staying on the average unless I started going uphill, when it would drop way below, and of course downhill where it would max out the gauge.

I will say that I don’t drive based on the current mileage... I just drive. And it’s hard to go slow in this truck. But 55 or 75 the average mpg doesn’t seem to change much.

How much boost would your cummins run when crusing? Our 6.7 always seems to run 7 or 8 just crusing. More air more fuel.
I don’t remember. It was a much different truck than my Ford. Less power, manual trans, SB clutch, Smarty, S&B intake, no smog equipment, locking hubs on the front. Definitely got way better mileage (5+ mpg), but not near as nice to drive.
