5 times over the same thing is enough for a lemon law suit. 3 should be enough. That’s where I’d be looking at this point. That or get them to replace the whole exhaust system to start fresh. Mine has idled 350 hours of 1500 I believe and it’s not doing anything like that.

Probably part of the reason a fairly new truck with 18,000 miles was sent to auction.

I’ve owned it since Oct. I think and it’s been to the dealer four times that I can think of. Now five.

If they tell me it’s done, and all they do is reflash the computer, I swear I’m gonna go off on someone.

Please get return visit to dealer on video...........

I agree...the sooner you can delete the egr, dpf and all the other garbage the better for you and your rig. As I understand it, the dpf is meant to fill up (obviously) and will require cleaning intervals.

@cgraham1 doesnt Cali require you to pass emissions testing?
Yes, However... I live in one of the few (only ?) counties that only require a smog check when transferring a title to someone else. We don’t have bi-annual smog requirements like the rest of the state.

I really wish I could move to a different state.

August in Grants Pass isn’t that far.

Then You could be on the Made for This A Team.

I really want to visit out there: the trees all look wonderful & straight.

Oregon isn’t too bad, the big cities pretty liberal though! Out in the country there isn’t any smog checks, just the big counties! The other issue is warranty stuff, you do some deleting and the dealer usually won’t touch it!

Yes, we do have nice straight (and tall) trees.

Grants Pass is about three hours drive from here. But I still won’t make the A Team. :(

Update... I got a call from the dealer and they say there’s nothing wrong with my truck. There is supposedly a TSB to fix whatever the issue is that causes this particular code... and (surprise!), it’s a software update!

Then the guy tells me they can’t even do update unless the code is present... which it’s not, because I cleared the codes before I drove it down there.

So, yeah. I’m not too happy with Ford Service. And instead of driving my truck, I get to drive my dad’s ‘04 6.0 Powerstroke to Montana and back. :(

Thats weird. Must be a Ford thing. I know their service techs have to contact the mothership for any warranty stuff and they must be the ones saying it must be present.
Gm does some seriously dumb *s-word, but they pretty much give me freedom to make my own calls on stuff vs having to contact them and wait..
And for the stuff I am not allowed to decide on, it's then onto my service manager. He really only gets involved on cost comparision for repair or replace on big items (engines, transmissions, differentials, etc) and its 99% of the time cheaper to repair.

The crappy part is I missed a whole day of work, had to buy fuel to drive down there and back (plus a ride each way), had to deal with the inconvenience of not having a truck for four days, and because they “didn’t find anything wrong”, I have to also pay $165 diagnostic fee on top of everything else... so this “nothing wrong” just cost me about $1000.

And I’m sure it will just happen again.

Got a call from the dealer on Monday... they aren’t supposed to do the TSB unless the code is showing, but they went ahead and did it anyways. It was (of course) a software update, and a forced regen. I told them to drive it all week (since I’m out of town) to see if the code popped back up... if it does they will do the work under warranty. If not, it’s $165 diagnostic fee, and the reflash and forced regen is included in that price.

I wish I didn’t have to pay anything, but all in all I’m pretty happy with the service at Corning Ford.

I'd think about setting that thing on fire and driving it into the dealership!

At work we have CNC mills that are acting up randomly.
The newest one had only 5% spindle runtime compared to the overall power on time after a whole year, that piece of crap was malfunctioning continuously instead of making money.
Whenever the service guys would come they'd say there is nothing wrong with the machine even though it would spit out numerous error codes.
Well, they apparently fixed the error code issue - the machine is no longer giving any but will still behave erratic and unreliable.
My guess is the service guys disabled the error code messages through the software hoping that the remainder of the extended warranty runs out.
That machine should have been set on fire and dropped on the dealership from an airplane or helicopter!
It is a 50 Year anniversary edition unit featuring digital servo control units, it's reliability says it all!
We have over a decade old machines from the same manufacturer featuring analog Siemens servo control units, they just keep running with occasional mechanical wear malfunctions - go figure.
