I'm not missing the point. But your generalizing and comparing apples to pears.
Both 71cc... both strato... seems pretty close to me. Who knows what a ported 572 would do? Maybe big gains... maybe not so big gains because it’s already pretty optimized.

A ported 572 will spank a mm 572 . I didn't think they gained much with mm

Got a little carried away with the foredom on this one. Just opened up under the deflector after removing the cat tube but it was too much.
Started melting the top cover and I can't have that, this saw is too nice.

After a bunch of cutting and tweaking it's starting to look like something I can live with. This is the second go round, I scrapped the first idea. This pic shows the original deflector as well.

After some welding, grinding and paint I think it turned out pretty good. Still need some heat shield tape for the cover but it's at least directed away from it now.

Time will tell how effective it is. If it still melts the top cover I'll weld it shut and go out the side. Next time I'll leave it alone and do just that.
Do you have any foil tape? I like to put it on the underside of top covers just over the mufflerFBC0CEB9-03F7-46EF-B435-B6D4A1D21AE3.jpeg
