Yeah , I don't mess around. I was gonna run the saw more to get it broken in before the mod but I couldn't resist. I figured it would be better in the long run to get the hot exhaust out and let the saw tune itself to this setup. I love the saw so far as it's much smoother than my old non pro saws. Only have a little over a tank through it, should really run after a few more.

Was going to leave my new 461 stock for a few tanks, and well, here I am after having cut only 10 cookies. Lol! I don’t need no stinking warranty...I hope:risas3:

Please excuse the flux core mig spatters. Used one of my large deflectors.

Did you lose a bet? MS Slinger
Lol! No sir. I’ve always admired the 460/461 and figured I’d better grab one before they went away.

I’m not stubbornly brand biased despite what my forum name may project. I like good saws, color don’t matta.

Any of you fellas wanna try out some universal spark screens we're making here?

They ain't nothing too special but it'll make for a nice universal screen for folks. Gonna be paired with a Red97 deflector. Made from a USFS approved type stainless screen and a galvanized retainer clip. Looking to create a cost effective kit for guys who don't need to buy some of the materials in bulk.

I'm making them pretty generous in size...2x2.75

I've got 10 or so I want to send out and all I'd ask in return in your feedback. If you could go out and put a couple miles on them that would be perfect!

So those are the only requirements:
-One to each person
-A little bit of feedback

Anybody wanna be a guinea pig?IMG_20190313_194139.jpg IMG_20190313_195938.jpg

So how is it secured in place?

So how is it secured in place?
That's going to be up to the user. It's the same as the idea of the deflector. The end user is going to have to determine what best suits the application.

In a lot of the aftermarket type mufflers they send a sheet metal screw through the retainer and use the deflector to hold down the remaining portion of the screen. Oftentimes there is some more intricate metal work going on there, though and I'm just not there yet. I've attached an image for example.IMG_20190314_063448.jpg

In the spirit of universality the end user is going to have to decide which best suits the application. I've also attached pictures of the screen in comparison with the underside of the deflector to show how much real estate is there to secure the screen via screw or rivet.

If you decided to weld or braze the deflector you could always do your hot work and then leave enough space to sandwich the screen between the muffler body and the screen. One sheet metal screw through the retainer would likely prove to be sufficient.

An awesome question @Deets066 !!!

Thanks for taking the time
