You maybe able to see the wear behind the edge. It rode between the bell housing and foot board of his tractor my entire childhood which wore a groove in it.

My cousin liked my homemade handles and asked if I could make one for this hatchet he had kicking around. The makers mark reads “American Fork & Hoe Co. 1944”. With the prominent U.S. stamp it is surely a military hatchet...who knows where it has been. Maybe it went to Europe on a soldiers pack, or to the pacific with a Marine, interesting to think about. Very cool piece and I’ll be getting a handle started for it today.

That’s what I love about these axes there’s so much family history attached
Too them and all these stories add memorial value too them which makes them priceless

I do love the name Belnap bluegrass axes it has got a nice sound to the name
I think @Junior Samples collects them

That’s a beauty the history that axe has under its belt , whenever there is a military connection it always sorta makes you get on and get it in 110% working order ready for action

Being from Tasmania all I seem to pick up lately is tassie pattern axes. That's not a bad thing is it?
