Hey, anybody know how I can free up the H needle on the carb for this machine? OEM part number for the carb is 62100-81010. My Echoes just had a plastic plug to be drilled out. On this one, the hole is smaller and I don't see a plug or anything. It looks like the needle may have been set at the factory with no provision for later adjustment at all.
There is a small D plug in there you can get the tool from Shindaiwa for like $40-50 but it work great on a lot of the smaller saws and lots of trimmers. If you need one I can get one for you I have tried and haven’t found another reasonable way.

I have a couple FS-85’s, a couple other Echo’s and Husqvarna trimmers but the T242 is by far my favorite. It’s just smoother and easier to run for long periods. Looks to be overbuilt for heavy duty too.

I swapped the carb for a cheap adjustable one off the bay and opened up the muffler a bit on mine.

The solid drive cables will last a lifetime as well.

Thanks guys. Which aftermarket carb did you go with?

This one off EBay. Haven’t installed as the OEM one on it is running great but like to have a backup and may have another 242 project in the works...
