Is it just me or does the OPE search function really stink.
I will type something like dolmar 421 and not a single thread brought up is about the Dolmar 421. What is up with that? Can it be fixed?

I agree. Also had similar problems with 'another site' that uses similar forum software. Sometimes I can't even find my own, old posts that I want to reference, or add to.

My 'work around' is to search via Google. E.g. Google "opeforum Philbert xxxxxx" , where 'xxxxxx' is the subject I am looking for. Or I might Google "opeforum Mastermind GTG", etc.

Googling "opeforum dolmar 421" yields:

I always use the google search too, may I suggest a hyper link on the top bar to bring up this function.

https://www.google.com/#q=site:http://opeforum.com

add that html, then type what you're looking for after that

https://www.google.com/#q=site:http://opeforum.com+dolmar+421

You could make it a link (tab) right beside "new posts" or the "search box"

Call the tab "OPE Google Search?"

You have to ensure you're searching in the right spot. By default, there is a check box "to look in" already selected (This Forum or This Thread). Uncheck both and you will search the entire site. Put the terms in quotes and get even more specific. Just like the G spot. My search for dolmar 421 and again for "dolmar 421" gave me exactly what I should get, when I made sure that neither This Forum or This Thread were selected.

My [ahem] other forum, tractorbynet.com also has a search function. It also isn't super awesome.

They also, however, have a little Google search bar at the top of the page. It just uses Google to search their domain for whatever you enter into the box. Super handy, works very well.

Just something for you fart knockers to ponder over.

If a search on site isn't fruitful, I just do a Google search. For instance I was looking for a MS261 thread I did a few years ago so I used....
