Reflecting back on the last couple of weeks tonight. I’ve been in and out of both the Solo and Dolmar more times than I can count. I don’t think most understand what the builders go through on a new saw trying to find gains, testing and retesting. I’m pretty happy where both saws are. Tore the Solo down AGAIN tonight and raised the exhaust a touch more It’s at 98° now.

I’ll be honest, after getting serious about square filing and building these two saws while still keeping up with the normal workload .... I’m tired. I need to get the last few repairs out of the shop this week. Looking forward to Jamestown this coming weekend so I can relax for a minute. I had a ball last year. See you there. Rich

Special thanks to the viking for letting me run some of his saws @SOS Ridgerider.

Yer killin' me, Smalls. Mine's the only one 4 stroking in the cut. Give 'er another 1/4 turn in next time

Unless I'm mistaken, this thing strangely seems to be idling a rich 11,000rpm with the throttle plate closed, and revving up to 16,000rpm (and I didn't let it spool up all the way). I'll go back to the stock carb for now. Sounds really cool though.

You’ve got an air leak I’d venture to say.

Check the intake boot.

I tried to encourage the viking to lean her out a little more than he did lol ! I think he wanted to be conservative since she’s still new.

Nope, turns out it's the exhaust. It seems to be getting a tuned pipe effect, but not the good kind. I guess extra air is getting in that way. I'll keep experimenting, but opinions are welcome.

I was thinking about running something like this on one of my smalls for fun.

Not at all a fair comparison having 3 different chains. 100% stock carb on the race saw right now. I'll try going back to the big one later now that I solved the idle problem. It ran well at around 10,500rpm in the cut.
